We enter 2009 with hearts both hopeful and heavy. The historic inauguration of Barack Obama ushers in a new era of possibilities. But we enter the new year with the worst relics of an old system run amok: the deadly bombardment of the Gaza strip, the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a global economic crisis that is plunging millions into deeper poverty.

It's up to us to make 2009 a year of solutions. Let's start now by making your re-solutions for the New Year. How about writing one letter to the editor a month, or joining a local CODEPINK group, forming a relationship with your Congressperson, reaching out to the Muslim community, working in a homeless shelter, donning a pink boa and taking to the streets?

Nous entrons en 2009, nos coeurs remplis d'espoir mais aussi lourds. L'inauguration historique de Barak Obama introduit une nouvelle ère de possibilités. Mais nous entrons dans la nouvelle année avec les pires reliques d'un vieux système qui continue à faire des ravages: les bombardements meurtriers sur Gaza, la guerre qui se poursuit en Irak et en Afghanistan, une crise économique globale, qui plonge des millions de personnes dans une plus grande pauvreté.
C'est à nous de faire de 2009 une année de solutions. Commençons dès maintenant en envoyant nos ré-solutions pour la nouvelle année: écrire une lettre par mois à un éditeur, se joindre à un groupe local de CODEPINK, créer un contact avec un membre du congrès [usa], se rapprocher de la communauté musulmane, travailler auprès des déshérités [ dans un refuge pour sans-abris], porter une écharpe [boa] rose dans la rue.
