A performance by artist Emma Hedditch will begin at the CCCB Hall at 6.30 pm
and continue to the opening of Working Documents at La Virreina Image Centre
(in collaboration with l'Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival).

Participating artists: Natalie BOOKCHIN, Marina GRZINIC & Aina SMID, Emma
HEDDITCH, Alejandra RIERA, Maria RUIDO, Sandra SCHÄFER.

Curated by Montse ROMANÍ and Virginia VILLAPLANA.

Working Documents is an exhibition that explores film and video artistic
practices that use documentary performance and interventionist strategies
for social critique.

Filmmaking strategies such as reassemblage, appropriation, and re-enactments
are proposed symptoms of our post-capital time, in which image-documents
becomes a form of critical yet open and plural reading of social contexts.
The various trajectories in the works in the exhibition extend to gender
politics; translation as mediation; performance as symbolic geography; the
transmission of documentary images through relational projection devices;
and collaborative constructions of images.

ACTIVITIES
Talks on production processes, visual strategies and ways of disseminating
the documentary productions presented by the artists in Working Documents.

Presentation of work by artists taking part in Working Documents, followed
by discussion. Free Entrance.

Thursday 20 November 2008. 6 pm
Espai 4. Palau de La Virreina. La Rambla, 99. Barcelona
Session open to anyone who wants to present their documentary work to an
audience that will include the exhibition artists and curators. This session
aims to stimulate a frank exchange of opinions and experiences between
creators. Free Entrance.

WORKING DOCUMENTS est une exposition qui explore les pratiques artistiques du film et de la vidéo utilisant la performance documentaire et les stratégies interventionnistes dans une critique sociale.

Les stratégies utilisées dans les films comme le ré-assemblage, l'appropriation, le re-ordonancement sont les symptômes de notre époque de l'après-capital dans laquelle les documents-images deviennent une forme de lecture critique ouverte et plurielle des contextes sociaux.
La variété des trajectoires dans les travaux présentés s'étendent aux questions de genre, à la politique; à la traduction en tant que médiation; à la performance en tant que géographie symbolique; à la transmission des images de documentaires par des dispositifs de projection relationnels et à la construction collaborative des images.
